The Woochie Latex Slit Throat is a ready-to-use wound application from Woochie for a slit throat effect. Apply it to your neck, paint it up in layers and add fake blood. Your horror, Halloween or SFX look is complete.

What is the Slit Throat?

A latex prosthetic in the shape of an open, sliced throat with realistic depth and texture. The edges taper thin so they blend smoothly into your skin. After use, remove the prosthetic carefully, clean it and store it dry. That way you can use it multiple times.

Why does this prosthetic work so well?

No kneading, no waiting for drying time, no liquid latex to build up layer by layer. The shape is already there. Your work is in blending the edges, painting it and adding the blood. That is where you make the difference.

How do you apply the Slit Throat?

Hold the prosthetic dry against your neck first to find the right position. Do this before applying any adhesive.

Apply a thin layer of skin adhesive to both the back of the prosthetic and your skin. Pros-Aide is the standard for long-lasting hold; for a quick stick you can also use spirit gum. Let the adhesive go tacky before pressing the prosthetic onto your skin.

Press the prosthetic firmly from the centre outwards to the edges. Then blend the edges with liquid latex or Pros-Aide Cream. Multiple thin layers give the smoothest transition. Powder the edges well with setting powder before you start painting the prosthetic.

Painting and blood

Colour the prosthetic with water-activated face paint, grease paint or alcohol-activated make-up (such as Encore palettes). Work in thin layers. Start with red-purple in the depth of the throat cut, then add a bluish edge, then drying blood along the sides. For the blood effect: apply fake blood inside the wound and a drying layer on the surrounding skin.

Setting and removal

Set your paint work with setting powder so nothing smudges. To remove, work a Pros-Aide remover such as Mouldlife Life Wipes, Ben Nye Remove it All or Pro-clean Cleansing Oil under the edges, lift the prosthetic carefully and rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
