The Dark Arts Company Slow-Flo Blood Dark, 100ml

Liquid fake blood with a deep crimson tint and a slow, coagulating texture. It resists flowing and dries to look like clotted blood. Made by The Dark Arts Company for film, theatre and SFX make-up.

What is Slow-Flo Blood Dark?

Slow-Flo Blood is the thickest of the flowable lines. The texture resists spreading, so the blood pools in place and drips slowly. Once dry, it looks like coagulating or clotted blood with a rich, wet sheen.

Dark is the deepest shade in the Slow-Flo range: a deep crimson for extra wound depth and a generally dark blood effect. Great for older wounds, controlled drips and layering depth into SFX compositions. No pink undertone, even in contact with water.

Why choose Slow-Flo Dark?

  • Thick and slow-moving - pools and drips like clotting blood
  • Dries to a coagulated finish with a glossy residue
  • Deep crimson shade for wound depth and darker blood effects
  • Contains surfactants and stain inhibitors for easy clean-up
  • Ingredients of food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical grade
  • Vegan and not tested on animals

How to apply Slow-Flo Dark

Pour directly from the bottle, drip with a pipette or apply with a brush or make-up sponge. For controlled drip trails: start high on the wound and let gravity do the work. For a clotting effect: leave the blood undisturbed for a few minutes to dry.

To add dimension to wounds, combine with a thicker gel variant such as Contour Gel Dark or Form Gel Dark for raised edges.

Setting and removing

Slow-Flo dries slowly in open air. The thick consistency keeps the blood in position as it sets to a glossy, clotted residue.

From skin: lukewarm water with a little soap removes the blood easily. The water reactivates the dried blood so it comes straight off.

From fabric: soak the fabric for a while in water at around 30 degrees with detergent. Rinse under the tap and machine wash at 30 degrees.

From surfaces: non-porous surfaces just need washing and rinsing; porous surfaces may need a cleaning product or household bleach.

What can you use it for?

  • Clotting and coagulated blood around wounds and abrasions
  • Drip scenes in film, theatre and short film
  • Blood from wounds, mouth or nose in a darker shade
  • Horror and zombie make-up for Halloween
  • SFX training sessions and make-up demonstrations
