The Dark Arts Company Med-Flo Blood Dark, 100ml

Liquid fake blood with a deep crimson tone and a naturally flowing texture. It runs across skin, spreads into fabric and dries within minutes. Made by The Dark Arts Company for film, theatre and SFX make-up.

What is Med-Flo Blood Dark?

Med-Flo Blood moves and spreads the way real blood does. It flows at a moderate pace - not as fast as a thin splatter blood, but it runs steadily and pulls well into fabric. The drying time of a few minutes makes it ideal for scenes where you want the blood to visibly set during the take.

The Dark shade is a deep crimson red. Use it for extra wound depth, older injuries or dark blood in shadowed scenes. No pink undertone, even in contact with water.

Why choose Med-Flo Dark?

  • Flows and spreads like real blood - naturalistic movement pattern
  • Dries in minutes - blood visibly sets during filming
  • Deep crimson tone for wound depth and dark blood scenes
  • Contains surfactants and stain inhibitors for easy clean-up
  • Ingredients of food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical grade
  • Vegan and not tested on animals

How to apply Med-Flo Dark

Pour straight from the bottle, drip with a pipette or apply with a brush or make-up sponge. For drip effects, start high and let gravity do the work. For a more controlled blood trail, dab with a damp brush or sponge working outward from the wound.

Combine with a thicker texture for wounds with extra depth - try Slow-Flo Dark for congealing blood or Form Gel Dark for a raised blood effect along the wound edge.

Setting and removing

Med-Flo dries in minutes at room temperature. If you want to fix the result at a specific moment in the scene, gently blot with a paper towel.

From skin: lukewarm water with a little soap removes the blood easily. The water dissolves the dried blood so it lifts straight off.

From fabric: soak the fabric in water at around 30 degrees with laundry detergent for a while. Rinse under the tap and then wash in the machine on a 30-degree programme.

From surfaces: non-porous surfaces simply wash and rinse clean; porous surfaces may need a cleaning product or household bleach.

What can you use it for?

  • Fresh flowing blood on skin and clothing in active blood scenes
  • Drip scenes in film, theatre and short film
  • Blood from wounds, mouth or nose
  • Horror and zombie make-up for Halloween
  • SFX training and make-up demos
