How to use Ben Nye Mass Casualty Blood Powder

Start with a clean container or bottle. Add the powder to water and stir well until fully dissolved. Adjust the ratio to your desired consistency.

• Thin flowing blood: use more water for a runny effect, ideal for large surfaces and dripping décor.
• Thick sticky blood: replace some of the water with glucose syrup. The blood becomes more viscous and holds better on skin or fabric.
• Splatter work: use thinly mixed blood with a splatter brush for controlled blood spatters on décor or clothing.

Pro tip: mix a small test batch first to dial in the consistency. For haunted house décor, a ratio of 1 part powder to 3 parts water is a solid starting point. Add glucose syrup in small increments until you reach the consistency you need.

Setting and removal

The mixed liquid blood partially dries but does not become fully waterproof. Setting is not applicable. For removal, work in steps:

• Skin: warm water with mild soap, dabbing to remove. For stubborn residue use a Wonder Towel; finish with a gentle skin soap. A faint red tint may remain on fair skin but fades within a few hours.
• Clothing and fabric: rinse immediately with cold water. Then wash at 30 degrees Celsius with a stain remover. Test on a hidden area first. Ben Nye states the blood washes out of most fabrics, but gives no 100 per cent guarantee.
• Décor and large surfaces: mop with warm soapy water. Avoid prolonged contact with painted or porous materials without testing first.
