What is Ben Nye Final Seal?

Ben Nye Final Seal is an alcohol-based setting spray that has been the standard on professional film sets, in theatres and at SFX productions for decades. You spray it over finished makeup, powder or greasepaint to seal the layers in place. A light mint scent makes application pleasant, even during extended use.

Final Seal is available in five sizes: 30ml (travel size), 60ml (compact), 120ml (standard pro), 240ml (large pro size) and 500ml (production size). The 240ml sits between the standard and the large production bottle, making it the choice for those who go through more than 120ml but don't yet need full production quantities.

How to use the sealer

Step 1: Powder your makeup first. Apply a translucent setting powder before using Final Seal. This improves adhesion and prevents oily makeup layers from staying tacky.

Step 2: Spray from 20-30 cm away. Hold the bottle upright and mist in a light, even motion across the face or body. Close your eyes and hold your breath while spraying.

Step 3: Allow to dry fully. Final Seal dries quickly, within 10-15 seconds the layer is set. For maximum longevity, apply two thin coats.

Pro tip from Linda: For extra durability, you can activate Diamond FX or other face paint directly with Ben Nye Final Seal instead of water. This creates a stronger, better-sealed paint layer that's ideal for outdoor summer shows, sports events, theatre and long shoot days.

Removal

Remove with Ben Nye Hydra Cleanse (oil-free) or Ben Nye Quick Cleanse. Wipe away the makeup using a cotton pad, then rinse with lukewarm water and a gentle facial cleanser. If you have sensitive skin, apply a moisturising cream afterwards.
