Are you curious about how to make a realistic face lifecast? During this life casting workshop on Saturday 16 May 2026 in Vught, you will work with alginate and plaster and take home a lifecast of your own face.

What is a life casting workshop?

Life casting is the process of creating a three-dimensional cast of a real face or body. In this workshop lifecasting, we focus on casting the face. You will learn how to create a safe and comfortable mold using alginate and plaster bandages, and how to pour a clean positive copy.

We use professional materials and techniques that are common in makeup, SFX and theatre. You will experience how to make a lifecast step by step, guided by an experienced instructor.

What will you learn during this life casting workshop?

Throughout the workshop, you follow the full process of casting a face. You not only learn the technique but also the tips and tricks normally found in professional workspaces.

• Preparing the model and workspace for face casting
• Working with alginate: mixing, timing and applying to the face
• Reinforcing the mold with plaster bandages
• Safely removing the mold without discomfort for the model
• Pouring a positive cast of the face
• Basic finishing of your own lifecast

The lifecast runs from the top of the head down to the collarbone. The ears are not included in the cast.
