Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax Fair, 226gr is a mouldable modelling wax for building 3D effects directly on the skin. Think broken noses, cuts, scars, bullet holes and other skin distortions. The wax is firm enough to hold its shape but pliable enough to blend seamlessly into the skin. This 226g size is made for productions, SFX training courses and high-volume professional use.

What is Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax?

Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax is a professional modelling wax based on petrolatum, beeswax and carnauba wax. The heat of your hands makes it soft and workable so you can sculpt directly on the skin.

The Fair shade has a slightly translucent tone that suits lighter skin tones well. Your natural skin shows subtly through the wax, making the effect look more realistic on camera and up close. For warmer skin tones there are also Brown and Light Brown, both in 71g.

Natural skin finish: the Fair shade is slightly translucent, so your natural skin tone shows gently through the wax. The result looks more convincing on camera and in close-up shots.

Professional standard: Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax has been used for years in theatre, film, cosplay and special effects make-up. This 226g pot gives you enough wax for productions and SFX training sessions with heavy use.

How to use the wax

Step 1: knead the wax until soft. Take a small piece and knead it briefly between your fingers until it softens. Do not overwork it, as wax that gets too warm can become sticky.

Step 2: apply Spirit Gum. Apply a thin layer of Ben Nye Spirit Gum or ProAiir Pros-Aide to the skin where you want to place the wax. Allow the adhesive to dry for a few seconds until it feels tacky.

Step 3: model the shape. Press the wax gently onto the skin and sculpt the effect into shape. Blend the edges with a spatula or your fingers. A little vaseline on your tool prevents the wax from sticking.

Step 4: set and colour. Set the wax with a thin layer of Neutral Set Powder. This removes the shine and makes colouring easier. Then colour with creme make-up or alcohol make-up.

Pro tip from Linda: want the wax to stay firmly in place during long shooting days, theatre runs or Halloween events? Apply a thin layer of Ben Nye Liquid Latex Clear over the wax.

Setting and removal

The wax stays in place thanks to the combination with Spirit Gum.

Remove the bulk of the wax with your spatula. Leftover Spirit Gum comes off with Ben Nye Bond Off or Ben Nye Spirit Gum Remover on a cotton pad. Clean the skin afterwards with water and soap.
