What wounds and SFX effects can you create with Aged Blood?

Aged Blood mimics blood that has already left a wound and begun to darken. It works best for old injuries, post-fight scenes and any look where the blood should not appear fresh.

When do you choose Aged Blood over fresh blood products?

Use Aged Blood whenever the narrative calls for time passing after an injury. Fresh blood reads as immediate; Aged Blood signals that a character has been wounded for a while.

How to use Aged Blood

Shake the bottle well before use. Apply with a brush, sponge, cotton bud or directly from the bottle for drips and runs. Build the effect in thin layers, adding more where you need a thicker, coagulated look.

Pro tip: For wound edges, dab with a sponge and let the blood pool slightly for a convincing clotted result. Combine with Arterial Blood at the centre of the wound for a fresh-versus-old contrast that adds real depth.

Safety and removal

Aged Blood washes off skin with mild soap and lukewarm water. Rinse clothing immediately after contact and machine wash at 30°C. Test on a small hidden area of fabric before using on costumes you want to keep.

Remove any stubborn residue with Sherman Pro-Clean cleansing oil 250 ml. For on-the-go clean-up, Mouldlife Life Wipes (20-pack) are a practical option.
