What fantasy and character looks can you create with Ivory?

Ivory is the lightest shade in the Ben Nye Hair Color range. It's the go-to choice when you want hair that looks almost white without reaching for a wig - think elves, fairies, ice queens, prairie characters or magical creatures with platinum-pale hair.

In theatre and film, Ivory also works well for subtly lightening existing blonde hair or bleaching out brows and individual strands for ageing or ethereal effects.

When do you choose Ivory over another Hair Color shade?

Choose Ivory when you need the very lightest colour in your toolkit. Silver Grey and Snow White are the closest alternatives, but Ivory sits between them: warmer than the cool Silver Grey and less stark than Snow White. For an ice-blonde or soft-pale fantasy look, Ivory is often the better fit.

It's particularly useful when you want to temporarily bleach or fade hair for a character without using a wig or permanent dye.

How to use

Always work on dry hair. Use a mascara wand or fine-tooth comb for individual strands and detail work, a toothbrush for a textured or speckled effect, or a brush for larger sections. Build the colour up in thin layers and let each layer dry before adding more. It dries quickly and won't weigh hair down.

Pro tip: On fine or porous hair, test a small section first - Ivory can absorb more deeply into lighter hair types than expected. Working layer by layer gives you much more control over the final intensity.

Removing

Ben Nye Hair Color washes out with warm water and shampoo. If you're working near costumes or props, cover them before applying. On chemically treated hair, the colour may absorb differently, so always do a test strand first.
