Superstar Face Paint Light Orange 046 is a warm, soft orange glycerin-based face paint from Dutch manufacturer Superstar. The shade works beautifully for flames, tigers, autumn designs and shading effects. The creamy texture blends easily and lets you build sharp edges just as well as smooth gradients.

What looks can you create with Light Orange 046?
This soft orange sits perfectly between a warm yellow and a vivid orange, making it the go-to shade for tiger stripes, fox faces, flame effects and autumn or harvest-themed designs. It also works as a warm shadow or contour colour when layered with deeper reds or browns.
For Halloween it reads as a pumpkin or pastel-orange base, great for subtle creature looks that need depth without being too intense.
When do you choose Light Orange over a brighter orange?
The softness of this tint means it blends without overpowering adjacent colours. Choose Light Orange 046 when you need a natural, warm base - for instance under a tiger stripe or as a transition shade in a fire gradient running from yellow through to deep red.
Pro tip: Layer Light Orange 046 as your mid-tone in a flame look: start with Sunshine Yellow at the tips, blend into Light Orange in the middle, and finish with a deep Red or Crimson at the base for a realistic fire effect.
How to use it
Superstar is a water-activated face paint. Activate it with a slightly damp brush or sponge and apply in thin layers for the best coverage. The glycerin formula picks up water smoothly and dries within seconds.
With a brush
- Wet your brush and work it into the paint.
- Build up thin layers for even coverage.

With a sponge
- Dampen the face paint sponge using a spray bottle so it does not get too wet.
- Swipe the sponge over the paint and apply to the skin.
- Use a round face paint sponge or a Butterfly Sponge for an even base.
Setting and removing
Superstar face paint sets on its own once dry. For a long event day or outdoor use, a light dusting of setting powder or a fixative spray adds extra longevity. To remove, use water and mild soap. A skin-friendly soap works well. For sensitive skin, the Wonder Towel with a little water is a gentle option. Do not scrub and avoid baby wipes, as these can irritate the skin.
