The Grimas Fine Stipple Sponge has a fine texture, which makes it perfect for subtle effects like broken capillaries or ageing a face. It is finer than a coarse stipple sponge, so you can build up texture slowly and keep it under control.

What is a fine stipple sponge?

A fine stipple sponge is a small sponge with a fine, open structure. Where a coarse stipple sponge leaves clear, chunky dots behind, the fine stipple sponge gives you a fine, even mist of tiny specks instead. That is exactly what makes it so handy for recreating fine red veins, aged skin or a light skin texture. The sponge works with water-based face paint, cream face paint and pretty much any other make-up you already use.

How to use the fine stipple sponge

Hold the sponge between your fingers and squeeze it gently so it puffs up a little. Pick up some face paint and dab it onto the back of your hand a few times first, so you can check the colour intensity. Then work in a stippling motion on the skin, so press down and lift off. Do not drag or wipe, because that removes the fine texture effect you are after.

For hygiene reasons, do not use the same sponge on more than one person. That keeps your work clean and fresh.

Cleaning

Rinse the sponge by hand after every use. Then machine wash it at 60°C or higher, inside a laundry bag or a pillowcase. That protects both the sponge and your machine.
