Fluid SFX Favourites | FBFX Brush Set
Fluid SFX Favourites is the personal brush set of special effects makeup artist Floor Schellekens of Fluid SFX. She works a lot with alcohol-activated makeup and sets high standards for her brushes. These are the eight FBFX brushes she loves working with most, from the Tim stipple brushes for bruises to a thin Floor brush for fake blood. In the video on this page, Floor tells you herself why these eight.
Why Floor chose this set
"I set high standards for my brushes because I work a lot with alcohol-activated makeup, and these FBFX brushes are really well suited to that." About the Tim brushes: "They have two different bristle lengths, which makes it really easy to apply a nice stippling technique, perfect for bruises for example." And about the Floor brush: "I like using it to add streaks or scratches with fake blood, because it is so nice and thin."
What's in the set
- FBFX Face Paint Brush Alex 3, ultra liner brush (for fine detail and lines)
- FBFX Face Paint Brush Linda 3, round detail brush (for detail)
- FBFX Face Paint Brush Jerry ¼, filbert brush (great for lips thanks to its rounded shape)

- FBFX Powder Brush Monique 1, flat powder brush (for powders)
- FBFX Powder Brush Monique 2, round blending brush (for powders and soft blending)

- FBFX FX Brush Tim 3, duo-fibre stipple brush (for stippling on larger areas)
Why choose this set?
- Put together for grime and special effects: from stippling and powdering to fine detail and fake blood, exactly the brushes Floor uses every day.
- Suitable for alcohol-activated makeup and grease paint: Floor sets high standards because she works a lot with alcohol makeup, and these brushes are up to it.
- Synthetic bristles: springy, vegan and easy to clean.
- Wooden handle with a sturdy ferrule: nicely balanced, even during long makeup sessions.
Which brush for which job?
This set is put together for special effects work. Each brush has its own job:
- Tim 2 and 3: the two bristle lengths give a natural, irregular stipple. Ideal for texture and bruises with alcohol-activated makeup or grease paint.
- Alex 3 and Linda 3: fine detail and crisp lines.
- Jerry ¼: thanks to its rounded filbert shape, great for lips and soft edges.
- Floor ⅜: a thin flat brush for streaks and scratches, for example with fake blood.
- Monique 1 and 2: applying powders precisely and blending softly. Use this duo dry.
After use, clean your brushes with lukewarm water and a mild soap, and use a suitable brush cleaner for alcohol-activated makeup. Let them dry flat with the bristles pointing slightly downward.
Single brushes or the whole range?
Every brush in this set is also available separately, in several sizes within its own range: the Alex ultra liners, the round Linda detail brushes, the Jerry filberts, the flat Floor brushes, the Monique powder duo and the Tim duo-fibre stipple brushes. You will find them all in the face paint brushes category.
About the FBFX brush range
The entire FBFX brush range was developed from Linda Gloudemans' years of experience as a face and body painter, theatrical make-up artist and special effects make-up artist. After more than 15 years in the trade, she knows exactly what a good brush needs to work comfortably and lay down crisp lines. Think bristles that hold their shape, a nice balance in the brush and a handle that sits comfortably in your hand.
