The FBFX Face Paint Brush Poem 3, also known as the Flora brush, is the largest flat flower brush in the Poem series. The wide flat shape with hairs that taper to a point creates broad, elegant petals - ideal for large floral designs or wide flower areas. Use it flat for broad petals, or on its edge for firmer accents and finer details.
What large floral designs can you create with the Poem 3?
The wide flat shape lets you lay down a full petal in a single sweeping stroke. Because the hairs taper to a point, each stroke naturally narrows at the tip - giving you a realistic petal edge without needing a second brush. That makes it particularly useful for large statement flowers on cheeks, arms, or body paint designs where scale matters.
The Poem 3 works equally well with splitcake and single-colour face paints. Load the brush flat across a splitcake and you get a natural colour blend built into every petal from the first stroke.
Why choose the Poem 3 over a smaller flower brush?
Smaller brushes like the Poem 1 or Poem 2 are great for detail work and tighter flower compositions. The Poem 3 is the right choice when you need to cover more surface quickly - think full cheek roses, large mandala petals, or floral body art where a small brush would take three times as long. Choose this brush when speed and scale are priorities without sacrificing the clean petal shape.
How to use the Poem 3
Dip the brush in your FBFX Water Cup, wipe off excess water along the rim, then drag the flat side sideways through your splitcake or face paint. For a two-tone petal, double-dip: load a lighter colour across the full tip first, then dip just the very end into a deeper shade - one stamp gives you a natural gradient.
Work outward from the centre of the flower and rinse the brush thoroughly before switching to a new colour combination.
Cleaning and care
Rinse the Poem 3 with water and a drop of brush soap after each use. Reshape the hairs gently with your fingers and leave flat or upright to dry. Avoid soaking the ferrule - prolonged water contact can loosen the hairs over time. With proper care the synthetic bristles hold their flat shape through many sessions.
